Missions Philosphy

The missions ministry of Crossway Baptist Church exists to encourage our members to be involved in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 29:19-20).  Our strategy is guided by Acts 1:8 - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Values
Priorities and values are the foundation of our ministry.  These priorities and values are so basic to us that everything we do is built on them.  They must be shared with individuals, churches and ministries where we partner and work.  Our core values are as follows:

Prayer - We should ask God to call out and send laborers for the harvest from our fellowship
and beyond.  We should pray for our mission partners.
Scripture - The Word of God draws the lost to faith and drives the disciples of Jesus toward
Christ-likeness.  Ministries should be scripturally based and hold to the inerrancy of Scripture.
Church - We should start churches, build churches, and support churches and church planting
movements.  Church is defined as a baptized group of believers united for cause of fellowship,
worship, (including the ordinances), evangelism, discipleship, and service.  We will partner
with churches of like faith and doctrine.
Evangelism - God has uniquely enabled us to share the Word of God around the world.  Every
believer is entrusted with sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and should ask,"Where can I go to
                share the Gospel?"
Discipleship - A crucial part of completing the Great Commission is training leaders to "make
                disciples" that will "make disciples".
Compassion - We must care and have concern for the needs of individuals, churches and ministries
as well as encourage and strengthen them.
Cultural Sensitivity - We need to communicate the gospel in a way that is understood by people
where they live, and leads them to live a  Christ-like life in their culture.
Education - We should strive to be well trained and equipped in every missionary task we
approach.  This education should be sensitive to the strategy on the field and should
complement our partners on the field.
Accountability - All missionary endeavors should be held to a high standard of accountability and
                transparency.
Financial Support - It is a biblical mandate for the local church to support those who are taking the
gospel to the four corners of the earth.  For Crossway Baptist Church, our highest priority is to
support the main mission endeavors of the Southern Baptist Convention through giving to the
Cooperative Program and the home and foreign missions offerings of our convention (Annie
Armstrong offering and Lottie Moon Christmas offering).  Other missionary support will be
directed from the missions committee.  Priority will be given to ministries that have eternal
significance in areas of concentrated need.
